Gushing with Gratitude

I would like to express my most sincere thanks to all of those who attended our public reading event last night.  And to those whose plucked up the courage to read a text out loud to a cram-packed venue, I salute you.  All of the readers in all of the languages did a wonderful job.  As an English teacher, I would have those of you who read in my native language know that I am especially appreciative. Even though it may sound like a cliché, it really is the participants who make an activity like this work.

While I want to be careful not to get ahead of myself, I can't help but mention that I am already looking forward to the next reading which will be held on April 23, World Book Day.

Thanks again.  Keep reading.  Keep writing.

  1. It was a beautiful evening. I hadn’t been able to attend the previous public reading and I was expecting to meet just a few people. However, I got a great surprise, for the bookshop was crowded.

We could listen to stories in six different languages and all of them sounded good. We felt moved with a text dedicated to her mother by a student. We laughed with a performance some German students played, in spite of not understanding a single word. And we enjoyed with the beautiful sound of some very well recited Portuguese poems. All readings were good, actually, and these are only a few examples of them. Students did a good job and teachers should be proud of them, and also of themselves.

I’ve always believed that learning a foreign language is something more than knowing its grammar rules. It’s being interested in a foreign History, Literature, Music… and yesterday we all had a bit of that. Thanks teachers for sharing your free time with us and for making us to love foreign languages even more than we did before.

And thanks Itos for your delicious biscuits. You might share with us through this Blog that Polish recipe. In English, of course!

  2. Unusual Babel.

Most of us expected a low-kee event but we should congratulate ourselves because everybody was on the ball and we attended to a successful public reading. Due to the
time our teachers are devoting to this experiment the students are enjoying an extra
lectures really useful. Nowadays that deserve an extra point of our gratitude so the next
    goal should be ineludible.

I am not good at cooking M.Jesús. Mum's the word! I needed a little help but sure I'lldo
    the best with the recipe.
